ASHE YOUTH TENNIS & EDUCATION SEEKS AREA TENNIS PLAYERS
FOR
TURKEY BOWL PRO-AM TENNIS TOURNAMENT FUNDRAISER
PHILADELPHIA,
PA, Oct. 11, 2007 – Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education announced
today that only 24 slots are available for Philadelphia area tennis
players who want to be paired with former ATP Tour stars and AAYTE
Staff Professionals for the 7 th Annual Turkey Bowl Pro-Am Tennis
Tournament at the Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education Center,
4842 Ridge Ave. at School House Lane in East Falls, on Friday, Nov.
9 at 6 p.m.
“This
is a great opportunity for local tennis enthusiasts to play with
top professionals, have lots of fun and raise funds that will benefit
the thousands of at-risk children of the Philadelphia area who participate
at the Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education Center, the National
Junior Tennis League and the AfterSchool Tennis ‘n' Tutoring programs,”
said Jerry L. Johnson, AAYTE Board Chairman.
The
former ATP Tour stars participating in the Turkey Bowl will be Josh
Cohen, former University of Miami (FL) star; Don Johnson, former
ATP doubles champion; Rick Leach, a former consistent ATP top-20
doubles contender; Tim Mayotte, popular singles player who maintained
ATP top-10 rankings most of his career; Jack Waite, former ATP doubles
player; and Tim Wilkinson, former ATP singles and doubles competitor.
A special Celebrity/Pro Doubles Exhibition, featuring local personalities,
will be served up at 6 p.m. to start the Turkey Bowl.
People
interested in playing in the Turkey Bowl Pro-Am should contact AAYTE

A minimum charitable contribution of $500 is requested to participate
in the event, which also includes catered food (Restaurant Associates)
and beverages by Restaurant Associates, a silent auction and other
prizes.
Arthur
Ashe Youth Tennis and Education ( www.ashetennis.org

educational enrichment programs. Providing new opportunities to
an at-risk and diverse population, AAYTE delivers first-class tennis
instruction, fitness, health and nutrition training, equipment,
tutoring, computer science, library services, along with its nationally
acclaimed life skills curriculum to more than 10,500 young people
ages 4 to 18, mostly coming from underserved, low-income communities.
The new $12.5 million AAYTE Center at 4842 Ridge Ave. in East Fairmount
Park, is dedicated exclusively to serve children, the only facility
of its type in the country. AAYTE's principal sponsor is Advanta.
Additional supported comes from foundations, corporate, public and
private resources.
