Love 2 Serve is a community partnership
initiated by AAYTE and born of the recognition that more is needed
in Philadelphia's most crime ridden and impoverished communities
where school drop-out and violent crime rates have increased at
alarming rates. Through partnerships with the Philadelphia
Department of Recreation, the School District of Philadelphia, community
leaders, parents, local churches and other non-profit organizations
we work to provide hope, promise and a brighter future to our Love
2 Serve communities.
Love 2 Serve focuses on communities surrounding
five interconnected recreation centers in North and Southwest Philadelphia.
Youth at the sites are provided, at no charge; year round tennis
instruction, enrichment activities, homework help, a healthy meal
and Life Skills training. Additionally, a core group of 10
-12 year olds are transported to the state-of-the-art Arthur Ashe
Youth Tennis Center twice each week for additional tennis and enrichment
activities in our Computer Learning Center.
Parents of Love 2 Serve youth attend parent
enrichment sessions and town hall meetings. These sessions
include financial literacy classes provided by PNC Bank, Reading
Coach training provided by Philadelphia Reads and many others that
are requested by parents and community members.
Our newest program and one of our
most important, Love 2 Serve recognizes that "it takes a village"
to raise a child.
