World Team Tennis

      Philadelphia, PA, July 20, 2007 -  The Philadelphia Freedoms took on the Houston Wranglers at Cabrini College in a match featuring Venus Williams and youth from AAYTE serving as ball kids, halftime entertainment and even sportscasters! 

     Winners of this year's World Team Tennis Kidcaster contest, Chris McClellan and Sarah Rubin finally got their chance to interview, Wimbledon Champion Venus Williams.  Chris and Sarah were both poised interviewing one of the all-time great female tennis players and even threw out a few "hard balls".  Chris put Venus on the spot when he asked, "In two years, when I'm ten, will you be my doubles partner?". Look for more information on that match in 2009! 

     During the match AAYTE youth Daniil Mamalat, Dylan Kady, David Goldstein, Rachel Tharpe, Devi Jadeja and Neil Ahmed worked as ball kids.  In a few more years you might see one of these talented young players playing for the Freedoms!

    Finally, back by popular demand Luis Figueroa-Roig and youth from the Love 2 Serve Program performed "The World's Greatest" to the sold out crowd.  Luis and the kids got the crowd going and even had Venus clapping along. 

Everyone did an outstanding job in making the match a smashing success!
